I'm in the Olive Branch, East Borough. I was invited in by Ben and Scott who manage this Hall & Woodhouse eatery. Over an Americano coffee they tell me of the local development plans for the Olive Branch and what they are planning for Saturday's food festival.
As you know the Olive Branch was refurbished in 2014 and last week their function room was refurbished to host corporate events. But the most exciting news is the current rebuilding at the Albion in the High Street - Hall & Woodhouse are investing significantly in creating a 10-room boutique hotel, due to open in February 2016.
The theme of the décor is 1777 - the founding year of the family-owned company. The décor is described as 'Georgian grandeur' with rooms named after Thomas Hardy and Jane Austen, to name but two. Wood panelling and four-poster beds will feature as well as a 'cabin' design and the restaurant facilities for the hotel will be provided by the Olive Branch.
The Hall & Woodhouse stall at the food festival will be manned between 10am and 4 pm on Saturday, and for the first two hours by company chairman, Mark Woodhouse. He will conduct tastings and explain not only his passion for local food and drink, but also how his business supports communities such as Wimborne.
