Our local sponsors enable us to stage the Wimborne Minster Food & Drink Festival, so I popped in to see Matt at Dacombes of Wimborne in West Street to see what his plans were for the festival. As we chatted in his office it became clear how passionate he was about his business and Wimborne's wellbeing. Dacombes is a local family business run by Matt and his parents.
Dacombes opened in Wimborne in the 1920s selling prams and motorbikes from a shop in the Cornmarket. It moved to West Street in 2011, then acquired another electrical business in 2014, reopening the shop in the Cornmarket too. They sell large and small electrical appliances with a total of eight full-time, and one part-time, employees.
Matt likes nothing better than spending time with his family when not looking after the business, he has traditional tastes in food and likes eating a good steak washed down with a locally brewed ale. Apple pie for afters, he added! In his spare time he likes walking in the delightful Dorset countryside.
Dacombes of Wimborne has a Neff demonstration trailer coming down for the festival, which will be in the Square. It will feature the new Neff ovens which are successfully used on a famous baking programme on television. Why not pop in to the demonstration trailer at the festival? See you there!
